Yellow stuff in the feather shaft?

My male harris hawk just started moulting this week, yesterday it was one flight feather, today another two. What's bothering me is the presence of some yellow substance near the end of the feather shaft in each feather, I've never seen it before in a fallen out feather...
I was thinking that maybe its just skin fat, but I'm not sure. The feather shaft also seems to be a bit punctured and broken, just where the part with the yellow stuff appears. All three feathers... [Read More]

This bird was found in a bit of a poor state in Runcorn. She is now staying with me until such time as the owner comes forward. If you think this is your bird, please give us a call on 0161 790 5613. (She has since been coped!)

Recovery of lost bird

Hi all
Think this is right place for this
Back in the beginning of january I lost my redtailed hawk due to aviary damage fro, storms
Since then ive had no sightings of him until today
Got a call from someone local to say they spotted my bird yesterday evening as it caught one of there chickens
Im after advise on how to recover him as unsure will recall now hes been in wild for many months self hunting
Any advise please
