Thanks John, that sounds useful, particularly if you have no receiver.

But in my case I think I'll continue to test the transmitter with the receiver...so I always know the receiver is working...

You can use a receiver made by one company to track the ordinary analog beep transmitter made by another. But they need to be on the same frequency. So a 173 receiver is needed to track a 173 tag....

Thanks Terry, yes that would be good.

Bind in the film was simple, I imagine because he approached in the blind spot. Stats show he was doing 80 mph at point of impact, partridge maybe 40 mph.

And this is another clip Terry took of Flicker grouse hawking. He hits his prey so hard, and this video reveals how he turns almost upside down before delivering the blow. Its sort of like a man...

Thanks. I could well make such an amendment to my hat but its still too warm here for wearing one. And I could take it off and hold it at arm's length if necessary. Or perhaps throw it in the air?...

I dont think I'll be making the hat, but you words 'higher and in the clear' came back to me yesterday when I lost the signal. I took the 'Microtrainer' out of my pocket and
held it at arms length...

You'd need the Marshall Pocketlink to pick up the GPS data, which it sends on to your iphone via bluetooth.
I don't think it would be overkill for a Harris'. I've had experience of tracking one...
