I'm a little confused, did you name this baby after your lost owl? Whatever the case, she's a adorable and I hope you enjoy her!

Re: My Kestrel just wanna eat live prey......

This makes a lot more sense, it's really difficult to communicate over posts sometimes because it's easy for people to make assumptions. I apologize for doing it myself.

Re: My Kestrel just wanna eat live prey......

Maybe there is a bit of a language barrier here? Because this is a very different post than your previous one that I responded to. All I know is that starving any animal is wrong, especially when you...

Re: My Kestrel just wanna eat live prey......

Um, do you not see the huge problem with this? I don't even have a BOP and I can say that no one who is truly interested in their birds well being could possibly do this. I hope you aren't being...

Re: Favorite Quarry with Hawks

I'm an avid rider and very interested in the horse aspect of this! Aren't your birds nervous around them? Do the horses undergo any special training?

Re: Favorite Quarry with Hawks

Awesome video! Sorry for your loss. :(

I'll check it out.

For those of you that hunt them, typically how often

does the falconer end up dispatching the pheasant themselves? Almost...

Re: Favorite Quarry with Hawks

I've heard that squirrels have nasty teeth, did you ever have problems with them injuring your birds? Hares definitely sound fun, plus you can eat them.

Favorite Quarry with Hawks

Hi everyone,
So, the post title is pretty self explanatory, basically wondering what you enjoy hunting the most with your hawk partner, most interested in seeing what a red tail or Harris can take...

I'm also just starting out, so hi! I know you are in the U.K., but check out the California Hawking Club's Apprentice bookshelf. It has some great suggestions. I'm currently reading Hawks in Flight...

Re: Newbie with some questions!

Thanks, southern Cali is usually around eighty degrees (fahrenheit, obviously) in winter, doesn't often drop below fifty. Really I'm more worried about heat, since summer gets into the 100s, 125 is...

Re: Newbie with some questions!

Thank you so much, this was very useful. I will definitely set up netting over the top, it will be pretty high because there is a mulberry tree in the fenced area. I'm assuming the tree being there...

Re: Newbie with some questions!

Another question, for a weathering yard, I've read on the California Hawking Club website that an open topped weathering yard is fine, as long as the perches are 6 1/2 feet off the ground. Does...

Re: Newbie with some questions!

I'm working on it currently, I'm in England right now so when I get back to the US I will finish. As far as regulations, California is not very strict (surprisingly), and basically says that as long...

Re: Newbie with some questions!

Thank you so much! Very helpful. I think I'll go with a 8 long, 6 tall, and 5 wide structure and keep her tethered. I have a big area already fenced that is perfect for a weathering yard, about 40...

Re: Newbie with some questions!

Hi and thanks for answering,
I've bought and am almost done reading several books in preparation for my exam, and I've read through that website a few times. I just had some more particular...

Hi everyone,
I've been interested in birds and falconry for years, but recently I've found time for it, as well as some space for a mews and weathering yard. Right now I have an old duck pen I hope...
