I have known several RT's and they were all capable of this, if pressed on a kill or frustrated by lack of quarry or who knows what.
I believe it was because of them all being some kind of imprint...

feeding associated with the hood can sometimes end in the hawk constantly picking at the glove whilst hooded.
But when done correctly also works without the vice

Hood training should be done before anything else. And form part of every encounter from day one.
You missed that chance so may never be able to hood this hawk without adverse effects on behaviour....

The bottom one is preferable because when the bird feeds on it and covers it in yolk sac blood and guts it can be cleaned.
The top one will become a matted mess of bacteria very quickly

I gave displays for many yrs at a Centre in Scotland. We had a regular booking from a rest bite holiday hotel for people with MS.
After a yr or so I was taking coffee with one of the nursing staff...

I prefer to just let the bird catch it in a normal pass, as if it caught you out. If at any time it touches the lure even with a wing tip it wins the game and has the lure.
If it only ever gets it...

I have taught a few people to swing a lure, and one simple method that works well but looks a little rediculous is :- Have an assistant hold a long handled broom, with their right hand loosely...

This where getting a ferret and some nets get your foot in the door. By the time you have a hawk you will be part of the life of the farm and extending your permission to include a hawk will be easier

I would recommend a couple of seasons with ferrets and nets before you introduce your hawk. You will become very familiar with how they work and what to expect of them, how to keep things moving...

it is perfectly simple to hood train a goshawk whilst imprinting and to continue hooding into the field without resentment.
