Re: First Braiding Attempt

They look good but I could never use braided jessies on my birds, they will only ever wear JESSES, braided or otherwise.

Re: Your Ultimate Bird Of Prey?

Falconry is about hunting with birds of prey, not just killing with birds of prey. For me it's why longwings will always win in the 'ultimate' stakes, it's about the flight.

Re: At last, a home bred imprint!

Thanks, I am. I can't wait to get him up in the sky, I hope he's inherited his father's natural high flying desires.

Re: At last, a home bred imprint!

Hi Mark
Here's a couple of pics. I produced 2 females, unfortunately neither were black but the look like large dark Peregrines, as do the other males. There's a pic of the oldest female (5 weeks)...

Re: Red Bull's downhill champ takes on the world's fastest falcon

A bit of fun but no real challenge for a falcon. It's a pity they didn't put the lure on the bloke's head though.

Re: At last, a home bred imprint!

My neighbours have never complained. Imprints don't necessarily have to be noisy.

Re: At last, a home bred imprint!

He'll be flown at corvids, unless I can find some game for him, not easy in deepest Devon. I like imprints! Training in relatively enclosed country can be a bit hairy with large pr falcons, a kind of...

As a kind of footnote. I received my A10s today, 9 days after sending my applications by email. I don't know how this compares to other people but I know I waited nearly 3 months last year to pick up...

Re: Domestic Bliss.

Cheers George. 2 males, 2 females I think. Since putting them back they completely ignore me but I still go in when she's feeding occasionally. It's such a priviledge to be so close to "nature".

Re: The very best beginners book?

Me too, first read when I was 9. I managed to persuade the old dragon in our village library that I wouldn't be corrupted by taking a book from the adult section.

Re: The very best beginners book?

In my humble opinion anyone thinking about falconry as a hobby or anything else should read Glasier's "As the falcon her bells" It isn't, in any way, shape or form a manual. What it does do is give a...
