Default Anyone in Hampshire?

Hi,
I have been interested in falconry for many years, ever since seeing a display and reading 'A kestrel for a knave' when I was a young boy. Over the years I have read many books on the subject and been to events, centres and displays, etc. but, up until now, family and work commitments have stopped me pursuing it seriousily.

Now that my family is grown up and I am much more flexible in my working life I am looking to take a more active part in falconry and hope at some stage in the future, when I feel confident and knowledgeable enough, to own my own bird.

In the meantime, if there is anyone in Hampshire (I live near Basingstoke) who would consider taking me under their wing (excuse the pun) to give me a better understanding and hopefully a bit of experience, I would greatly appreciate it. I dont mind travelling and I would be willing to share costs if required. Thanks in advance!

Take a look at the this thread

Joining the British falconers club and going to your local meet will get you into contact with the falconers in your area. Then you have to try and convince them to take you out!

Hi Karl, thanks that would be great! I am happy to drive us both, do you know the date of the next meeting?

Out of interest, are you an architect by any chance?

Cheers,
Dale

Hi Nisus, thanks for your input. Hopefully I will be able to make the next meet with Karl. It will be great to go with someone, at least for my first meeting!

Cheers,
Dale

Hi Karl,
I have just seen your profile and, unless there is another architect called Karl Hughes round here, I believe we are meeting at 10am on Friday! Small world eh!

Cheers,
Dale
