Default new Hood patterns

Morb,
As for weight of leather, get Oak Leaf Tooling Hide( Tandys) in a 2-3oz for birds smaller than a male gos, perhaps then a 3-4 oz for larger birds.
When looking for leather you always find hides that are suppose to be the same weight but one is always a bit softer and not as rigid, some like the soft I like the rigid, personal preference really!!

I get Tandy fliers in the mail. I'll be ordering some and give it a try.

Thanks
