The Shooting Times published an article called Time to Act o raptors. It read pretty much like this - The RSPB recently has admitted that raptor numbers affect nest birds, this seems to be an excuse to bring up the horrific argumnet to cull raptors. The article goes on to say that there are now to many Bops in the UK !!!! Six game keepers give there views most saying that it's time to start culling Bops.

There are already some gamekeepers / landowners in Norfolk shooting Bops, this sounds like an excuse to get away with it.

The problem with articles like that, as we all know, people need little excuse to quote read articles to support their crime.

They want av a cull on grey squirells an cormarants birds of prey was here before them . they talk some rubbish at times . the grey squirell is to blame for decline in nesting birds not birds of prey . there as been a big increase in buzzards in my area over last few years tho . an buzzards dont go round killing nesting birds . my opinion would be get rid of grey squirrels an cormarants an plant a few more hedges for birds nest in instead of cutting them down an building on land .

Certainly does, this article almost gives them the go ahead to start wiping out the natural food chain, all to suite an unaturally cultivated sport. The Bops they want to kill are Goshawks, Buzzards, Kites and peregrines. I can't believe they even published this article in such a high profiel magazine!!!

So why not use this to your advantage. Agree with them that it is time to start culling raptors and the BEST way to do that is to allow you guys to take wild raptors for falconry..............

Might be a good idea. The problem is that in the Uk all our Goshawks where wiped out in the 1800's then they made a bit of a come back and they where wiped out again by pesticide use. The amount of game birds they take is tiny.

How about,

We endanger something, the robin or the otter, hunt it to almost extinction, then protect it, encourage it to breed, increase numbers until we think the numbers are high enough, so we can kill it again...

Doh, we seem to do this anyway ...
