Dogs and Birds
We apologise but as the Falconry Weekend is held at the Centre where we cannot and never have allowed dogs, we are unable to allow dogs in for this weekend. Birds other than those specifically invited are also not allowed.

Not surprisingly our dogs will be on site because it is their home.

The Falconry Weekend is a specialist falconry show devoted to showcasing the very best of falconry in the UK and abroad. 2011 saw the first weekend (then called the UK Falconry Event) held at ICBP to wide acclaim and praise from all those who either visited or exhibited. Some people had never visited the Centre before and were delighted at the quality ofnothe place, others had not been for 25 years or more and could not believe the changes. Its just the perfect setting for an intimate, friendly and very special falconry event. This weekend, under the name of The Falconry Weekendnoit nois organised, as indeednoit was last year by, and held at, the International Centre for Birds of Prey, the Weekend is designed to appeal to falconers, their families and anyone with an interest in this ancient sport and birds of prey. By bringing together high quality equipment manufacturers, falconry clubs and raptor experts it will enable visitors to engage face to face with their suppliers, instead of trawling through the internet with the risks that entails.

Arena Events Sept 1st and 2nd 2012

The arena at ICBP is very accessible, the views are first class and the birds happily fly there. I am afraid there will be no galloping horses, just more different and excellent species of birds or prey flown here than any other event in the world, and two first class dog demonstrations, one by Howard Kirby on one day and the other by Roger James the following day. The Arena events will start at 10.00am with the lure swinging demo and competition so have a go!
Gary Biddiss will be flying his beautiful Peregrine and doing Kite work with her, and possibly one of our birds, he will also fly his Hybrid Merlin Peregrine.
Nigel King is coming along, he is going to be doing a 45 minute demonstration in the morning. Sadly not his Aplomado, but he has promised a few really good birds and we are looking forward to seeing him and the birds.
Chris O’Donnell will bring one of his eagles along each day and give a short demonstration before rushing back to work
ICBP Staff will be flying as many of the birds that we have here in training and flying condition. Last year it was the young Steller's who stole the show, this year - who knows which bird it will be, but you can guarantee that you will see more species of birds of prey flown at the Falconry Weekend than any other show in the world and the standard will be second to none
Although the purists (I might possibly call them narrow minded!) out there would not approve of us adding owls in on the demonstrations, one of the things I really liked about my father Philip Glasier was that he never denigrated any species of birds of prey. He loved and appreciated them all including the owls. He never sneered at Harris Hawks because he flew Goshawks, he never made rude comments about shortwings because he flew Peregrines, and he did both extremely well.

Then there are the dog demonstrations, Last year Howard Kirby stepped in at the last minute for one of the days because we had been let down, and what a treat the man is. Rarely have I seen a demonstration where the dog demonstrator so obviously loved the dogs and had a great raport with them as well, it was a joy to watch. He is only able to do one of the two days.
Roger James who has trained all kinds of dogs for all sorts of different types of work, and is a falconer, has kindly agreed and he will showing us all we need to know about training dogs for falconry on the Sunday.

Then there are the Free Seminars in the iZone and what an impressive line up we have in there, all in with the entry fee.

Bob Dalton – Trapping and Ringing Wild Birds of Prey in South America

unlike some fairs where your trudging around just a field.

Its well worthy of the drive and a day out that you wont regret

OH and I went to this last year an had a great day. Not the biggest or busiest affair we've been to but a quality day. We met some great people and the displays were second to none.
I'd thoroughly recommend it.
