Yes he's good with dogs and a dedicated hunting man. Endearing, straight talking, and very very funny...

Hello All

Help needed.

Does anyone have a buzzard or Harris hawk chick about a week old that I could borrow to be fostered under a Goshawk that's sitting on dummies. AI produced fertile eggs but they died during incubation.

This is for my very good friend.

Obviously we'll pay full price if she kills it, or return it once hard penned and pay ú100 for the help. Happy to offer a cheap full Finish Goshawk next year to anyone that can help.

My friend is a very experienced falconer and a good honest man.

Thank you

Regards

Terry

Ps - Flicker is fine and moulting well in a pen

Hello

Well we are about to embark on season seven with Flicker.

How time flies. I'm pleased that he's stayed alive for so many years without being fox munched, electrocuted, lost, garrotted on a fence, or perished after one of his buzzard or owl altercations.

I've moulted him in a brighter pen this year. He seemed to moult a little slow last year in the pen that was shaded by an Ash tree and had a climber that crept over the roof throughout the summer. This seems to have helped. I've been feeding him on pigeons and chicks and he looks like he has moulted quite well. Its hard to tell but I think he has two primaries on one wing and one on the other side still to drop. His feet and cere are now bright yellow so he seems to have recovered from his illness.

I'll have to fetch him out next weekend to prepare him for our annual Grouse hunting trip on 26th August.
I'm planning on trying to get him a little fit for Scotland this year where as the usual method is just lob him off on the moor over a point for his maiden flight.

This year I'm going to try and copter him for a few weeks before the Grouse hunt. My friend has a copter and is happy to help me.
If not I might have to knock up a homemade kite using a black bin liner or a pair of Hags bloomers...lol

Thank Donna

Hopefully we'll have lots of video footage this year. It's difficult to film when trying to hunt the ducks alone. But I think the Grouse over a pointer is probably achievable single handed.

Hi Terry,

It's great to hear that Flicker has had a good moult out and that discolouring has gone. I'll be looking forward to hearing of your exploits with him this season.

Happy Hawking,

Bradley
