I have asked if this can be extended to the posting of pictures and bragging about out of season game and illegal quarry.

Its a pity all photos dont have a date stamp like the old days etc. Would be amazing to see how many so called long tailed rabbits were caught.

You are responsible for regularly reviewing information posted online to obtain notice of such changes.

The laws governing bagged quarry in falconry varies considerably from country to country and therefore it is necessary to make members aware of the following considerations and implore you to follow the policy set out below.

If you live in a country where the use of bagged quarry or 'baggies' are frowned upon in your countries national, local or by-laws, as is the case in Britain. Please do adhere to the main piece of legislation covering birds of prey in the UK which is the Wildlife & Countryside Act.

Please do not:
  • Show pictures
  • Display videos of its use
  • Discuss or post, any of your activities on this issue on the open forum
Naturally the laws are quite different in the UK from those of the USA and other such countries, where this is permitted. If you are from one of these countries where it is legal and can still keep your discussions within the law of your state or region, then please feel free to do so. However to not bring falconry in to disrepute, anywhere in the world, the IFF Moderation team, will not tolerate any pictures of undispatched quarry.

People must also be aware that we are an International website and therefore, use your common sense, that we have different methods of, training, cultures and laws, so allow others to freely discuss their falconry without making an issue of your personal circumstances or laws.

You abide by your laws and let others do the same. Any materials, threads or posts not seen as complying with this policy will be removed by the IFF Team Moderators and they may issue warnings, infractions or a ban for violations.

Hi Lee
Why do you not put a ban on all posts world wide that are to do with the use and training ,kiteing, etc with the aid of pigeons and other bagged quarry.
Falconry is the art of taking wild quarry with a trained hawk.
Although the use of pigeons and bagged game is legal in many countries why does any falconer need to post of their use continually.
Any new comer to our sport will not be failed to be impressed by the accounts given on how to achieve a high flying hawk with the use of pigeons,it is naive to allow such posts and think they have no effect on the reader.
I have read certain threads where the account of the day is all about the pitch taken by their hawk, no tales of actual hunting ,no respect shown for the quarry.
Any well seasoned falconer can read through a post and picture what is going on .
The falconer who brags his hawk is always going to high for the set ups on his ground to catch the wild quarry ,is using pigeons as a hunting hawk will regulate it self to the set up provided.

Best wishes Maddog

The use of bagged quarry in other countries is a lot more complex than just chucking out a pigeon or duck? I think it is a legitimate form of training, which like other traditional methods should be understood SO LONG AS IT IS LEGAL. I have seen some awesome Gyr's trained using bagged quarry.

A blanket ban would be counterproductive. Certainly when people post up from other countries and show BAD use of them, at the very least people who know how to use them can at least give them a thrashing on the open forum.
