Default Forum Swearing Policy

IFF Swear Word Policy

This Swear Word Policy has been set out so that everyone can get the best out of contributing to the International Falconry Forum.

By participating in the Forum you also agree to abide by this Swear Word Policy. The owner reserves the right to change this Swear Word Policy at any time by posting these changes online.

You are responsible for regularly reviewing information posted online to obtain notice of such changes.

Your continuing use of the IFF once these changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of this Swear Word Policy as modified by the posted changes.

The Owner would like to point out that he would prefer you not to use swear words at all on the open forum as it is not seen as decent and does not portray a good perception to falconers in general.

The Forum attracts a wide range of readers and members, in terms of age, culture, nationality and personal attitude and many people are genuinely offended by swear words that others consider perfectly acceptable. Be warned that if any content breaks the rules below it will be removed by the moderator team.

Foul language will not be tolerated and seeing as some people have started to do this more and more, we are forced to combat this. The forum Censor Filter is there for a VERY good reason. It is there to ensure that the profanity does not have such a bad impact before it is reported and dealt with by a team member - trying to avoid its function is not acceptable.

* Swearing is not acceptable.
* Starring out some letters is not acceptable.

Do not do it - We will be handing out a one off recorded warnings for a first offence and this may lead to a revoking of your access, if you consistently offend.

Reporting - If you see a swear word within a posting or an article we'd like you to bring it to the attention of the moderating team by using the Report Button provided. Your details will not be shared by the team as to who reported it.

If you see a word that you personally find offensive, but is not included in our Censor list, please bring it to the attention of the moderators, who will hand it to Admin to make a decision as to its suitability in the given context.

This is a guide only; if other words offend, or are used in an offensive way they may be removed.

Infraction Points Sytem - One point is given for each infraction after your first warning and as they build up over a 10 day period you will accumulate them and may get a ban of 7 days. Its very easy to have a conversation and not swear, be rude or abusive.

How it is dealt with - One of moderators will then remove the offending word and deal with the culprit by means of a warning, infraction or ban. It is reported to the whole team and logged for future use in dealing with repeat offenders.

Disagreeing with the ruling - If you have read this policy and still disagree with the decision made then you will deal with it in private with the team member that handed it out to you. You do not make an open forum thread about it or in general. A 3 day automatic ban will be given for this!

The Censored List - This is a selection of some profane words that the system automatically detects, if a swear word is used it will be starred out by the software. This does not mean they can be used and you will still be given an infractions if you do multiple swearing of two or more per post.

Words with Dual Meanings - These are a number of words which have both acceptable and unacceptable meanings, do not try and be clever and use them just to be trying the system, you may be given an infractions.

Abbreviated Acronyms - These are a widely used on the internet because they are less offensive than everyday swearing. The IFF will allow these if people do not get silly and allow it to get out of hand. Do not discuss their meaning on the open forum either, as this will lead to people breaking the Policy Rules.

Words with Dual Meanings - These are a number of words which have both acceptable and unacceptable meanings, do not try and be clever and use them just to be trying the system, you may be given an infractions

Minority Groups - Some words are banned not because they are profane or swearing, but because they may offend members of any minority, religious or ethnic group. Any posting or article using a slang word that may be seen to be offensive to any group of people will be removed and the posting may result in an infraction and at worst the termination of your account.

Club 18 Plus - and other private areas are exempt from the above rules and are encouraged to have their own policies in place on swearing.
