Thanks everyone im glad some people are enjoyig this thread

The second half of the BFC meet went like this

Darren was up next to fly his young gyr/peregrine (i think it was a gyr/peregrine). It mounted above some more mallard and at the right moment we ran into flush and we got a perfect flush and his gyr/peregrine folded and dropped out of the sky hurtling towards the mallard unfortunatly right at the last possible second the tiercel changed its mind and pulled off apart from that it was a great flight.

After that flight the guys managed to persuade me to put up the wayward Alfie (eventually).so we mounted two transmitters on him one on my frequency one on Greggs (just incase). I crept along the hedge row to where the mallard had put back in on the ditch took the hood off and Alfie left the fist instantly mounting in nice tight rings i thought it was gonna go perfect but then the next ring was a bit further off then the next went a bit further again i was desparate not to flush so i kept quite and waved my glove but to no avail he was getting wider so i had to go with it "HHHOOOOOOO!" up got the mallard and alfie came belting accross the sky and bound nicely to one of the mallard and down they came

Alfie on the left Frodo on the right

We all went out for a beer that night i was over the moon our first duck w00t i think i mentioned it a million times that night

The meet continued the next day with Barry flying Lizzie Bennett the wind had picked up and she took a little while to mount but the ducks flushed early and she flew one down nicely and we found her on her duck a short distance away

Lizzie and her mallard

I met some great falconers that weekend, had a great time and picked up some great advice the thing i also learned was that falcons can go way higher than i ever imagined feasibly possible Frodo was amazing

It was a great way to end my season and when i got home i plucked the duck and roasted it

That was the end of the second season for me Pickle Pongo and Alfie. Pretty sure that was the best season i had ever done so far .Alfie was flying really well up untill he stopped comming in to the lure and to be fair when i think back on it he was putting in some great pitches when he wasnt comming in (well over weight at that point)

Here are some more pics from his second season
