Default Keeping and breeding European Eagle owls advice please.

Hi,

My name is Darren and i live in co. Meath ireland.
I have kept birds since i was seven and i am 32 now so many many years expierence in keeping native irish finches and parrots.

I have also had a barn owl which i re-homed with a local falconer when my financial circumstances cuanged for the worse a few years ago. And this year i was lucky enough to bw gifted a female european eagle owl chick from a guy ive come to know who works in a local animal park. Sadly that bird had to be returned to the park due to circumstances far beyond my control or his for that matter. We thought my son was allergic to birds however as it happens its not birds he is allergic to but cats and our nanny was bringing her cat over while we were both at work we only found this out recently after all my birds have been sold or rehomed.

Anyway all that aside i have now been given a green light by my missis to get birds again and i am strongly considering buying a pair of european eagle owls to keep and eventually breed from so i have some questions in this regard.

Firstly, what size of enclosure will i need? I am thinking 25Î12x12 feet? But i am unsure and so i have come here for answers.

Also what age birds should i look for? How much should i ecpect to pay?

Is it just the extra hours of day light and extra food that nring them on in condition?

I have many many more questions but these will do for a start

I think the reason you haven't had any replies it's because most people think it's a really bad idea, there is no no value to European Eagle owls, you can't give them away, hence why are you were probably given yours. They live a really long time, eat loads, require really large pens and there is very little you can do with them, so people quickly get bored of them, hence why you can't give them away. Not trying to be negative just telling you the truth.
Kind regards Chris
