Does anyone use frozen food ( I certainly dont) and sit the bird under a sprinkler for long lengths of time, as an aid to keep the beak in shape
It seems to be common practice in America. Regards Roy Last edited by 1Red12; 11-09-2014 at 07:43 AM. Reason: c |

For what its worth I regularly give my FHH turkey necks. I first cut a fair bit of meat off and use that for tidbits. The bones are too big to swallow and she will pick them cleaner than ants on an ant hill.

Does it have to be rain water, as she has access to fresh water every day within her bath and bathes daily?

From what I've encounterd working with many birds of prey for many years, once you start coping you'll usually have to do it several times even if you have started giving them food that requires them to work at the bone thereby wearing it down before its no longer needed.

Dagger, had something similar with a lanner I worked with. What stopped its progression was applying betadine daily with an cotton earbud. Vet wasn't able to ascertain cause

Just a thin coat on the outside, should be back to normal in a few weeks. Maybe take a photo every day or 2 to monitor. Hope it goes well
