Default Mentor sought in Norfolk please

Hi - looking for someone who is relatively close to me - East of Norwich - to assist. I have had 2 years experience - not long I know - but am quite happy doing my own thing, but some company & BOP chat would be good. I am currently flying a MHH and have two EEO's which I am manning and hoping to fly in the near future.

Any one willing and able?

Thanks for reading, Em

Em join the British Falconers Club, the oldest falconry club in Britain dare I say in the world. They have international recognition second to none and I'm sure you will find many happy years of fellowship.

Why join the BFC? I joined recently and was told after a year that my membership will drop unless I do a Lantra course, now I can see the point however this fails to take into account any training/metorship I am already doing (I volunteer at a BOP centre and know some experienced falconers I go out with), also many existing BFC members slate the Lantra anyway,
What I find frustarting is I can read a book, know some basics, pass the Lantra and be accepted into the BFC however If I do it the 'correct way' and take my time, get a mentor, volunteer etc I will not be accepted

How much does it cost to do the Lantra Award through the BFC?

Pretty much

The LANTRA award costs hardly anything to do through the BFC. Just the registration fees I think. All it requires is to do a bit of book work. And if you know the basics anyway it's no problem at all.
So if you want the benefits of the club (field meets, insurance, members only publications etc) and to be of a certain, recognised, standard (the only one available) then just do the Award! (Obviously not aimed at you Thistle)

Hi Em,

I am in Cambridgeshire/Suffolk so not to near if stuck behind two racing beet harvesters on the A11 but the first post was spot on.

Join the BFC and then attend a very good meeting of falconers held once a month just south of Norwich that has ex-presidents, ex-treasurers and a professor attending, amongst other dignitaries!

Seriously, if your heart is in the sport thats the place to go to learn and have a some fun.

All the best, Dave.

Tell the truth, I have thought about sending off & quietly doing it. Just for something to do & to get the 'little grey cells' going.. but I'm not a great 'club' joiner. more of an anti-social git tbh. Quite happy pottering about the hills without someone else bending my ear about how to correct my bad habits. (I've got plenty of them. prob too old to start correcting 'em all now. thanks all the same)
