Default Proposed New CITES Charges

These new charges will take effect in October this year and will be a real pain in the butt for us all. Registration as we saw earlier is also due to stay but at a higher rate.

This consultation Document is for those who have been part of the Consultation Program but I see no harm in publishing it here so you can all respond to it

Terry

I thought that Sara - I mean either you pay more, or you pay more as they state that keeping the status quo isnt possible.

Still its called a 'consultation' so I guess they have ticked the boxes for the 'public consultation' part of these changes.

Since I plan on trying to get more birds from the UK, it still effects me. Double the numbers ($ to ú converstion).

In typical DEFRA fashion, there really is no option.

The 'consultation exercise' is just that, an exercise. It will have no impact on costs or procedures, it just the law that they have to do it. A grand waste of time and money to have the 'consultation exercise'. Should have done away with the 'consultation exercise' and lowered the costs.

The costs are going up.

I will vote for option 1, keep it as it is, if they want to save money, spoo the registration for falcons who are not even staying in the country for more then 4 month!!

Exactly the problem Sara I sent birds out last year and the Reg Doc did not arrive until after they had been shipped. I told them not to bother sending me papers for birds I no longer had here.
In addition to this I applied for 3 shipments on the Fast Track System Guess what it took almost 3 months to get them Why? you may ask. Well someone lost the papers but did not loose the Cheque

No good opting for option 1 Sara they have already stated they will not entertain any votes for Option 1 So why put it there in the first place the whole thing is a **** take

PMSL You have to follow the link in Terrys first post, this brings you to DEFRAS home page where you can click on and view the consultation...
