Default RIP Falconry Legend S.M Osman !!

On 12th afternoon at the age of 88 at his hometown Dehradun ( India ), I knew em personally very well & spoken to em few days back on cell. What a great loss !!

S.M Oman ( born 1925 ), grandson of the late Amir Mohamed Yaqub Khan of Afghanistan.

Mr Osman served in his career as a project manager in the Hilmand Valley Authority ( in Afghanistan ) before returning to his hometown, Dehradun ( India ), where he worked with ONGC until his retirement in 1983.

There are few, if any, oractising falconers in India today or, for that matter, in this sub-continent whose range & dept of knowledge of falcons, hawks, eagles & their behaviour, more especially their capabilities in the sport of falconry, equals S.M Osman.

To the Indians & the Pakistani, S.M Osman wud be regarded as an ( USTAAD - MASTER ) in his feild. & to the rest of the community of ( Ornithologists ) & many others as a repository of knowledge, skill & craftmanship that will largerly disappear with him.

May he rest in peace, he sounds like someone whom I would like to have met.

This is a name from falconrys past and will be missed badly on the Indian continent. May he rest in peace and all his future flights be long and testing,

May his soul rest in peace. And like he always said.... "He is now with his birds and family in the Happy Hunting Grounds"

A Master falconer in the truset sense and we are fortunate enough for him having written a book on his escapades of falconry - Falconry in the Land of the Sun...
